Yesterday evening, Editor-in-Chief Charles Finch and A Rabbit’s Foot invited friends and special guests to an intimate celebration, presented by Lanvin, of the illustrious career of acclaimed screenwriter and film director Paul Schrader and the release of A Rabbit’s Foot Issue 8: Film Noir. Amidst the glamour of the Cannes Film Festival, the event marked Lanvin’s return to the French Riviera after a century-long hiatus with the recent opening of a boutique on the famed Boulevard de la Croisette. The evening commenced with a cocktail reception followed by dinner at Fred L’Ecailler, the iconic restaurant located at 12 Place de l’Étang. Central to the festivities was the homage paid to the distinguished career of Paul Schrader, whose latest work ‘Oh, Canada’ premiered days earlier at the festival, and actress Valeria Golino.

A Rabbit’s Foot, edited by producer and filmmaker Charles Finch, stands as a reference to the world of cinema, offering an insider perspective on the intersections between film, art and culture. The release of Issue 8: Film Noir coincides with the 77th Cannes Film Festival and underscores the publication’s commitment to insightful storytelling within the realm of cinema. Along with the opening of the Lanvin Cannes boutique, the event celebrated the house’s long standing connection with the French Riviera and the cinematic arts. Since its founding over 130 years ago, Lanvin has played an integral role in shaping the aesthetics of cinematic glamour. From dressing actresses both on and off-screen, even designing theatre interiors, Jeanne Lanvin developed a strong relationship with the dramatic arts from her debut as a couturière. More, she elaborated a presence on the Riviera with the acquisition of coastal properties like the Villa Mauresque and Villa Sphinx and even established an atelier in the south of France from which to work and serve her avant garde clientele.

The following luminaries from the realms of film, fashion and art attended the celebration: Paul Schrader, Valeria Golino, Abel Ferrara, Whit Stillman, Rebecca Dayan, Jean Pigozzi, Jeremy Thomas, Elsa Heizmann, Peter Bradshaw, Efe Cakarel, Melita Toscan Du Plantier, Thierry Frémaux and Benoît Delhomme. As the dinner spilled out into the street, names such as Catherine Deneuve, Cate Blanchett, Leos Carax, and Christophe Honoré also shared in the festive spirit.

“We are so happy to welcome Lanvin to our A Rabbit’s Foot art, film and culture magazine world and to Rabbit’s Foot Films,” said Charles Finch. “Lanvin as a partner in our annual A Rabbit’s Foot dinner at the restaurant Fred L’Ecailler is a perfect match (no actual rabbits eaten). This year, we are honouring filmmakers Paul Schrader and Valeria Golino, following last year’s celebration where we paid tribute to Mads Mikkelsen and Audrey Diwan.”

“Lanvin is particularly delighted to celebrate its new boutique and long overdue return to Cannes during this year’s Film Festival with Charles Finch and Paul Schrader. It is the fine fusion of fashion and cinema, and the escape possible in both, that we humbly wish to celebrate at a moment when the world needs a new optimism,” said Siddhartha Shukla, Deputy CEO of Lanvin.
